Power settings instructions
To successfully run a program that requires constant internet/network connection such as the smartphone application, or any workstation running Kennel Connection that is networked to one main computer, you must set your computer to never sleep.
Please note: The instructions below are to assist you with these changes. If you cannot locate these settings or your operating system looks different, you will need to contact a local technician to assist you.
Computer and Hard drive sleep options
- Click the Windows Search bar. Type in "Control" and look up to the search results. Click on "Control Panel".
- In the upper right-hand corner of the control panel, make sure your "View" is set to "Small Icons".
- Choose "Power Options".
- On the left, click “Change when the computer sleeps”
- Where it says, "Put the computer to sleep", change to "Never", then click Save Changes.
- Go back into Power Options and click on "Change advanced power settings".
- Locate "Hard disk" and expand it. If your "Turn off hard disk after" setting shows a number, click in the box, delete the number and type the word "Never" without the quotations.
- Next, look for the "Sleep" option and expand it. Set "Sleep after" and "Hibernate after" both to "Never" without the quotations.
- If you are running WIFI, expand the "Wireless Adapter Settings" and make sure it is set to "Maximum Performance".
